2 Fast 2 Furious

2 Fast 2 Furious looks and sounds amazing. The DVD transfer is absolutely impeccable with crisp, vibrant colours, and engine sounds that place you in the heart of the action. Subtitling is equally flawless, not only during the main feature, but across all the extras, including the director's commentary.

There are some problems with the DVD, though. The major one is that, when played on my computer, sometimes the menus are completely blank, apart from highlighting whichever unknown option I've had to select randomly. This didn't occur on another DVD player I tested it on, so you may be all right.

The second problem is that I quite simply can't find the DVD-ROM features that the disc promises. After extensive rummaging, all I could manage to do was install the provided DVD player on my computer. I didn't need it, it had fewer features than my usual software player, and for some unknown reason it gave the film a pink tint.

Most of the extras are little more than a Behind The Scenes documentary, split into bitesized pieces. As a whole, they're interesting, but individually there's never enough to get your teeth into. The look at some of the stunts is able to stand alone, but even then one feels that it could have been better. Not only would the character-specific features be better off as part of one main documentary, but they are annoyingly placed amongst the three pointlessly different menu styles.

Deleted scenes and outtakes are usually enjoyable, regardless of the film. Sadly, this isn't the case here. The prelude to the film is equally disappointing. If such a link between The Fast And The Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious were necessary, or interesting enough, it would have been part of the film. It's neither necessary, nor interesting.

It's not all bad news, though: John Singleton's director's commentary is well worth listening to. He provides plenty of interesting insights into the film and the way in which it was made. When it's combined with the animated anecdotes - factual snippets appearing as subtitles - it makes for a top notch addition to a fun film.
