American Psycho

Read Angus Wolfe Murray's film review of American PsychoThe 2.35:1 anamorphic picture is totally sound until the last 20 minutes when the image becomes somewhat grainy and colours are not as saturated as we would like. Other than this, there are no problems and the picture should definitely please.
The DD 5.1 sound is great and although the film has no revolutionary sound effects the roaring chainsaw really sounds like it's right there next to you. Which is rather cool, but do you want to believe Phil Collins and Whitney Houston are sitting next to you? This DVD soundtrack has been expertly transferred and will impress despite its lack of audio gimmickry.
The extras are very bad and totally unimaginative. There is a trailer and a short featurette and not much else save cast/crew bios and production notes. I honestly don't know of anyone who reads these things and the featurette is about five minutes in length. For such a controversial and much-talked-about movie, one might expect some defence, or insight, from the makers to be included, but these are suspiciously missing.
