Anchorman is a fine DVD package, which perfectly compliments the film. The picture quality is good and subtitling is available on both the feature and the extras. Although the sound is equally problem-free, it fails to use the surround sound capabilities to any great effect.

It's the extras where the DVD really shines. The outtakes and deleted scenes are plentiful and amusing. They will be the first port of call for any viewer. Interestingly, they reveal more about the way in which the film was made than the Making Of featurette. The improvisational process for some of the lines is shown in action and allows the viewer to further grasp the mindset of the actors. Whilst the Making Of is only marginally informative, it is enjoyable to watch. The music video for Afternoon Delight is a silly music video and nothing more.

The jewel in the crown is undoubtedly the commentary. Director Adam McKay and star Will Ferrell are the main commentators, although Lou Rawls, Andy Richter, Kyle Gass, Paul Rudd, David Koechner and Christina Applegate pop in for a few minutes now and then. It soon becomes apparent that this isn't a straight commentary, it's one that is being done solely for laughs. Not all the jokes hit the mark, however, but anyone enjoying the humour of the main feature will relish their extra hour and a half in the company of the Anchorman ensemble.
