This new restoration looks terrific, drawing out the hangdog expression of Moretti’s angular face in detailed close-ups, done justice in the blu ray format. Unfortunately the extras are very slim indeed, encompassing just a featurette titled Le cercle du cinéma, from the 1998 Cannes Film Festival. This is a round table from the festival featuring a number of directors, producers and journalists from the festival. There are some interesting insights, such as Moretti’s discussion about being on the jury the preceding year, and how that produces anxiety for his film being judged this year. But there isn’t an enormous amount about the film itself, and it’s surprising that the extras are so thin on the ground.
