Eye For Film >> Movies >> Backtrack (2014) DVD Review
The sort of horror film that was always going to be most at home on DVD, Backtrack comes with a nice package of extras including a making-of featurette, music video and blooper reel. Some of the bloopers feel as though one really had to be there but the making-of is good stuff, taking a look at the film's origins and following it all the way through production. As is often the case with low budget films, it has far more to teach to other would-be filmmakers than most bigger productions, and it takes a very honest look at the mixture of risk-taking, serendipity and error that led to the final product. Whilst it might have been nice to have some input from the actors, the production team have plenty to say for themselves and director Sands gets to show off an impressive quiff.
