Director Shekhar Kapur's commentary track is excellent. It is very enlightening regarding the constraints of making the film. Such problems as the height of the sun affecting the camera work and how to convey time passing because of this are covered in detail. He also tells how he had to use different villages throughout the film so as to not offend with his material. He even reveals how the 11 year-old girl who plays young Phoolan did not want to be filmed getting married because she actually already was… proof positive that this feudal world still exists.

The package is rounded out by a trailer.
