Tartan Asia Extreme's Region 2 DVD of Battle Royale II: Requiem looks and sounds good, with a solid 1.77:1 anamorphic transfer that copes well with the moments of frantic handheld action and CGI effects and a choice of stereo, 5.1 surround and 5.1 DTS tracks offering something for all set-ups, the latter showcasing the you-are-there combat zone aspect very nicely indeed. The subtitles are clear and error free.

The extras comprise the original trailer, brief biographies of the Kinji and Kenta Fukasaku, statements by the two directors attempting to explain their thinking behind the film, a Kinji Fukasaku filmography and a trailer reel showcasing Gozu, Phone, The Eye, Audition, A Tale of Two Sisters and, of course, the original Battle Royale - in sum a decent package, though one also wonders if there might be a more fully-featured double-dipping two disc special edition to come...
