Read Anton Bitel's film review of Bright Future

The sound is fine and while standards conversion from the US version has not been dreadfully kind to the picture, since the film was shot on DV anyway, this isn't a big problem.

What might be a problem for anyone already owning the Japanese version of the film, however, is that this is a shorter cut of the film - running at 92 minutes, instead of the Japanese 115-minute runtime.

Sadly, there are no extras either and the scene selection is incredibly basic - just description with no pictures, making the disc tricky to navigate. On the review packaging there was the promise of a behind the scenes featurette which clearly didn't make the final cut - this is a shame, it would have been interesting to hear the ins and outs of jellyfish wrangling.

Worth picking up if you don't already have a copy of the Japanese version.
