There is just one extra on this Studio Canal release but it is a good one - 30-minute 2012 documentary Serenade For 3. Pierre-henri Gibert's film is a retrospective consideration of Sautet's film, from genesis to screen, outlining the origins of the story - César was based on the director's older brother - through to offering insights on Sautet's way of working and the cast. Participants include actor Bernard Le Coq, co-writer Jean-Loup Dabadie and editor Jacqueline Thiédot, whose observations are particularly good fun.

It's interesting to hear one of those questioned note that Sautet was annoyed with the way Sami Frey was "underplaying" the role - as the end result works as a perfect counterpoint to Montand's larger than life César.

The film itself looks fine and the subtitles are clean and clear.
