Read Gator MacReady's film review of Delta Force 2 - The Columbian ConnectionThe 1.85:1 picture is bright and pleasing and seriously brings out the greens of the jungle and the piercing blue sky well. This is a very good transfer that will please fans of the movie. The picture is the best home video presentation Delta Force 2 will get.
Sadly a DD 5.1 remix was not made for this movie, so we have to get by on a decent, but dull, Dolby 2.0 Surround track - it has some moments, but leaves us wanting more. Gunshots, choppers sounds and slo-mo punches are delivered well. And the expansive musical score is nicely recorded with no signs of dated fidelity. The soundtrack will not disappoint, but it could have been more engaging.
A single trailer is the only extra, which is a shame, because I remember seeing a few stunt featurettes and a documentary when the movie was released theatrically. MGM really should have dug them up, but this ain't no special edition and the price is not too high. So go buy, with haste, if you are a fan. If you are curious, just rent.
