Read Martin Fitzgerald's film review of Equinox FlowerLike most Tartan DVDs the transfer is well executed. Sound and vision are incredible; it looks as though it was filmed yesterday. This makes up somewhat for the lack of extras. After all, extras are just that; the film should always come first.
Nevertheless, it's taken all these years to get these films released on DVD and you can be sure they won't be re-packaged again any time soon. Bearing in mind the high regard in which Yasujiro Ozu is held, you would have thought they could have put more on the disc than the usual trailer and scene selections.
Equinox Flower is part of Ozu: Volume 3, a boxset, released on 24 April. The other titles included are Tokyo Twilight (1957) and Good Morning (1959)
