Eye For Film >> Movies >> Exhibit A (2007) DVD Review
Picture and sound quality have transferred well, given the film’s low-budget origins. And the of-necessity shaky handheld feel of the camerawork is less quease-inducing than on the big screen, though motion sickness sufferers should still beware.
The extras are a somewhat limited package, but cover all the main bases. A ‘making of’ featurette reveals just how collaborative the whole process was and contains some wry comments from the cinematographer and editor on how each had to make the film look as if, essentially, their roles didn’t exist. Given the nature of the film, it’s also as light as could be expected on plot ‘spoilers’.
An improvised version of the ‘revelation’ scene reminds you of just how well all concerned inhabited their parts and a brace of trailers (including a ‘local news report’ from the crime scene) whet the appetite nicely for the main feature. A bit more on the actors’ background and how they came to be attached to the film would have been interesting, but all in all a good, solid complement to one of the unsung gems of recent British cinema.
