Read Anton Bitel's film review of Female Yakuza Tale

This edition of Female Yakuza Tale, released on DVD for the first time in Britain as part of Fabulous Films' Pinky Violence Collection, is essentially the same as the recent Panik House edition for the US market. It is great to be able to see the film at all, let alone in such a painstakingly restored version, but unfortunately we Brits will have to make do without the full audio commentary by Chris D. (author of Outlaw Masters Of Japanese Film) that was available on the American disc but is missing here.

In fact the only extra of note, apart from the original theatrical trailer, three original poster stills, and a gallery of 10 film stills (in black and white, even thought the film is in lurid colour), is a bio (in text form) on the film's star, Reiko Ike. This is all better than nothing – but pretty poor compared to the sort of contextualisation that might have been provided by a decent commentary or background featurette.
