Filmed in Arriflex 3-depix and shown theatrically in 3D, the DVD is plain old-fashioned 2D and is anamorphically enhanced at 2.35:1. Blacks are troublesome during the night scenes and sometimes appear slightly greyish-brown. Daytime scenes are good looking, with nice night colours and soft focuses. The print seems a little dirty, but, other than the aforementioned imperfections, it's a good transfer.

The mono soundtrack can be tinny and quite brittle, with an annoyingly forceful loudness. The dialogue and dated sound effects are fine and the cheesy musical score is decent without being exceptional. This movie would definitely benefit from a total Dolby Digital remastering.

A rather corny trailer is included, and that's it, which is suspiciously bizarre, considering the massive amount of unseen material and cut scenes, which are locked up in the vaults at Paramount. Even if the alternate ending, in which Jason manages to kill Chris and get away, was included, it would be okay. But it's not in sight.
