Eye For Film >> Movies >> Get Shorty (1995) DVD Review
If the deciding factor is the worthiness of a DVD's extras, then it must be said that the ones on this Special Edition more than justify their existence. If you're interested in acting and getting a look at how the actors in this film prepared themselves, then the first documentary, Look At Me is definitely for you.
Page To Screen is an obvious, yet equally interesting, insight into the creation of the film from its Elmore Leonard origins. Wiseguys And Dolls is about the Mafia guys. Obviously, if you've gotten this far, you're interested, so, hey! I thought seeing what the tough guys looked like in real life was kinda cool, too.
Oooh, another thing! Did you know that originally John Travolta's part was offered to Danny DeVito? Sharing film trivia with the audience is another nice feature of the Behind The Scenes documentary. Every one is another juicy piece of inside info.
The hilarious deleted graveyard scene features Ben Stiller, and, although you understand why it may not be integral to the plot, it's worth watching just to see Stiller put in his place by Hackman.
There's a load of other stuff I'm not going to give away, but trust me, everything offered on this bonus DVD is a real treat.
