Eye For Film >> Movies >> Gnomeo & Juliet (2011) DVD Review
There is nothing low budget about this movie. Audio and visual are both exceptional – the sound is good, doing Elton John’s songs justice, and the colours pop out.
Extras include “Elton Builds A Garden – a making of feature that includes an exploration of the cast , two alternative endings, deleted and alternate scenes, a more mellow Featherstone introduction, a CSI spoof, a Penguin garbage can and assorted weather vanes pointing Gnomeo in the direction of his home, as mildly animated storyboards. The director Kelly Asbury introduces these variations and explains why they were finally cut.
I do not think this will be a movie that lasts like Disney or Pixar do but the subversive behaviour and diverting entertainment is sufficient to merit a look.
