In his informative commentary director Robert Stone "encourages us to check out some of the extras on the DVD". Surprising, seeing as Tartan's one-discer is somewhat of an empty chamber.

Aside from the commentary, a slightly edited interview with Stone kicks off the extras. Charting the film's conception (initial funding was refused back in 1994; it took the events of 9/11 to revive financial interest) and his quest to gather an extensive collection of archival news footage, he garners a lot of interest. Unfortunately there is a faint whiff of legal constraints about the interview, as we hear scarse mention of Patty Hearst, nor does Stone express his personal opinions on the events surrounding her.

With a selection of trailers advertising upcoming releases and a singular trailer for the film itself, a brace of archive recordings round off this disc. An extended broadcast of the SLA's remaining members, as they sit in the dock, conveys a definitive sense of justice. Better still, the eerily silent footage of the group during a bank heist sends a prickle down the spine. As Patty stands poised, with an automatic rifle in hand, you can't help but wonder what was really going through her mind.

Not stocked to the barrel, but still enough extras to make you want to watch the film all over again.
