Eye For Film >> Movies >> Human Desire (1954) Blu-Ray Review
This film looks great for its age and is presented here alongside a lengthy and informative interview with film historian Tony Rayns, plus further background material in a collector's booklet. Whilst these are packed with spoilers (something that couldn't really be avoided with a film of this type), so they need to be enjoyed after the film itself, they are likely to add considerably to your enjoyment of it.
There's also the original theatrical trailer here, which is likely to shock modern viewers with its incredibly one-sided take on the film's morally complex events, essentially blaming everything on the central female character. It's an interesting reminder of the politics of the period but not very helpful when it comes to understanding the film, and in many ways more disturbing than the murder committed in the film itself.
