Eye For Film >> Movies >> I Think I Do (1997) DVD Review
Considering this is branded a 'special edition' it's surprising that there are only two extras here, a commentary by director Brian Sloan and Axexis Arquette and an interview with Brian Sloan.
In the commentary we hear about how Brian Sloan was influenced by old screwball comedies and US soaps such as I Love Lucy. He wanted to give the film a retro feel and strove for those “Fifties Hollywood moments”. But it’s mostly a case of “I love this next scene” and “My hair looks so bad in this shot”. So not very illuminating.
In the interview Sloan talks about how he came to write this script, the casting and more about his influences. What I found most interesting was how the events of 9/11 had a direct effect on the course of his filmmaking after this one.
Although not much is added here, this is still a DVD worth viewing. The film is slightly dated now, (not much shock value left in the idea of gay weddings), but very entertaining and works well on a small screen.
