Filmed in standard full frame, the show appears typical of Universal's output during the Eighties, in that it sometimes looks colourful and well saturated and at others drab, dull and washed out. Fans won't care.

I do wish that the mono sound could have been louder. Magnum has such a funky theme tune (by Mike Post, who did the ultimate CLASSIC theme tune for The A-Team), but it never really has a big impact. And since most episodes are dialogue driven, I guess it doesn't really affect the rest of the show. But it could have been better.

Wow! Would you believe it? Universal has actually put some extras on there for a change. It ain't much, but it's better than nothing.

First of all, we have a bonus Season 5 episode and then it's a half-hour documentary on Universal Eighties TV shows, such as Simon And Simon, The A-Team, Murder She Wrote and Quantum Leap, which premiered in 1989 and spent the rest of its run in the Nineties. It's not heavy enough to be really interesting, but not exactly fluff, either. I do wish we could have had a bit from creative mastermind Donald P Bellisario on why he always uses the navy in his shows, such as JAG, NCIS, Quantum Leap and Magnum, itself.
