Eye For Film >> Movies >> Mallrats (1995) DVD Review
The DVD package is basic, with an audio commentary and retrospective feature and is of a decent technical quality.
The commentary features Kevin Smith and most of the stars and while it doesn't offer any particularly constructive insights into the making of the film, it is refreshingly candid about the studio interference and on-set shenanigans. Shannon Doherty, the only notable absentee, is clearly not popular.
The feature is similarly amusing, giving some interesting background and going some way to explaining the film's muddled tone.
Mallrats built something of a cult audience on video after its disastrous cinema release and this DVD will appeal to those fans, but few others.
