Jaco Van Dormael's beautiful film is finally released by StudioCanal UK (formerly known as Optimum releasing). That in itself is enough to give this release a high rating, but the 'Making Of' that accompanies the film, seals the deal.

The 'Making Of' features interviews with all the major creative forces in the film, and provides an illuminating insight into the wonderful minds of Dormael and cinematographer Christophe Beaucarne. Being able to peel back the curtain of performance and see how key scenes were made ensures that we appreciate the painstaking detail that was necessary to create such a visually striking film.

What's also interesting to note is the structured chart the filmmakers used to remind them exactly what reality was what, and what paths were leading where in Nemo's lives. Clearly, the viewer isn't alone in becoming lost in these beautifully realised worlds.

It's perhaps slightly disappointing that there aren't any audio commentaries to accompany the excellent 'Making Of' documentary, however... does anyone really listen to a director's commentary for more than half an hour?
