Mrs Ratcliffe's Revolution

Read Jeff Robson's film review of Mrs Ratcliffe's RevolutionThe picture and sound quality are good, and it has the usual scene selection, subtitles options etc. But there’s virtually nothing in the way of extras – a trailer and, er, that’s it. Given that this is based on a true story this seems to me a huge missed opportunity. Brian Norris’ notes on his experiences in East Germany on the film’s website are fascinating and hint at a much more complicated, interesting story than the one that eventually appeared. And some comments from director, cast etc about what drew them to a story that doesn’t automatically scream ‘box office gold’ could have been interesting.
Maybe there’s a ‘non-vanilla’ version in the pipeline. If so, my advice would be: more documentary material but, given the quality of what DID make the final cut, skip the deleted scenes.
