Eye For Film >> Movies >> Mud (2012) DVD Review
Mud comes with one small but enjoyable extra - a Behind The Scenes featurette, which lasts 16 minutes. Although some of the contributions, particularly from the producers, fall into the be-nice-about-everyone-while-saying-little category, the shots from on the set are enjoyable.
It's also easy to see why everyone is so nice about writer/director Jeff Nichols, who comes across as a funny and charismatic chap, who thinks his films through but never loses his sense of humour. It's interesting to hear him talk about the film's two young stars Tye Sheridan and Jacob Lofland and Matthew McConnaughey also offers some decent observations.
All the cast pop up for a quick chat to camera, including Reese Witherspoon and Sam Shepard. For the first time since I can remember, no trailer for the film is included, although that's no great loss. The main feature is subtitled, although annoyingly the featurette is not. More would be welcome but what's here is enjoyable.
