The excellence of the digital transfer is best appreciated by comparing it to the original Japanese trailer (also on the disc), which is markedly inferior in quality. There are also some briefer Japanese promotional trailers for the film, as well as an English-language trailer for the mighty Howl's Moving Castle and a lengthy Studio Ghibli trailer reel.

Other extras include: complete storyboards, which can be compared throughout to the final product using the DVD player's 'angle'; and, rather pointlessly, the opening and closing animated sequences of the film without the accompanying text credits.
