Optimum's Region 2 DVD is a bare-bones release, thereby placing the onus upon the A/V to make or break its market prospects amid all those other interesting-but-not-quite-essential Hong Kong back catalogue releases out there.

It's unfortunate, then, that it isn't quite up to the job, with a decent source print and anamorphic widescreen presentation, marred by pixelation in many of the darker scenes and a somewhat noisy audio (Cantonese with optional English subtitles) that could have done with more of a clean-up in some of the quieter moments.
