Eye For Film >> Movies >> Point Blank (2010) Blu-Ray Review
This 2.35:1 aspect ratio, encoded with MPEG-4 AVC has an a 1080p transfer. It looks and sounds fine but it is nothing spectacular and I doubt you'd lose a great deal if you opted for the DVD version of the disc instead.
The Making Of Documentary - subtitled The "Yes, Yes" of Fred Cavaye (They Don't MeanNo - is one of the best I've seen for ages. Running at 50 miinutes, documentary director Francois-Regis Jeanne intercuts some excellent, up-close-and-personal onset footage with talking heads of the director and crew.
As Cavaye puts it: "The fim was tense so the shoot was tense, too." And that's the impression that comes across as the director and his team race to get shots and push themselves to the physical limit.
Explaining his tenacity and his willingness to let his stars risk accident, Cavaye says bluntly: "We can't have a banner onscreen saying 'be lenient, we have less money than the Americans."
Jeanne captures the feel of the set, from accidents, to arguments to jubilation, while also walking us through key scenes from their gestation through to the finished product. Sensibly, it also comes with a warning to watch it only after viewing the feature itself.
The package is rounded out by an unremarkable (and spoiler-ridden) trailer and a photo gallery.
