Read Keith Hennessey Brown's film review of Shaolin BrothersMIA's Region 2 DVD of Shaolin Brothers presents the film in its original 2.35:1 widescreen ratio. One's appreciation and enjoyment of the film is, however, hampered by a grainy transfer that is somewhat lacking in both sharpness and contrast.
Audio is clear if unspectacular, though the lack of language options - the film is presented in English dub, without subtitles - may not appeal to purists.
The only extra is the original Hong Kong trailer for the film. Being in 4:3 and presenting scenes in the wrong ratio, so that the performers are elongated stick men, it makes you realise the problems companies like MIA face when they want to bring vintage Hong Kong action to the screen.
That said, a little more effort on the film itself wouldn't have gone amiss.
