Copy pictureExile On Baker Street is a common-or-garden Making Of featurette, in which the Californian line producer complains about being there and how difficult it is to do anything in Wales. Also, it’s raining. There are scenes of young looking technicians operating cameras and stuff, as well as talking heads spouting autoblah. The Outtakes are more fun, if that is not an oxymoron. Actors fluff their lines, swear and giggle. It’s a gas! The commentary, with director, writer and line producer (all American, by the way), is surprisingly honest and straightforward. The film cost £160,000. It could have been made in Los Angeles, but wasn’t. I don’t think it would have made much difference.

Sherlock Holmes packshot
An improbable case for the Victorian detective that has nothing to do with Guy Ritchie's entertaining extravaganza.
