Eye For Film >> Movies >> Shopping (1993) DVD Review
Director Paul Anderson tells us in the Cast and Crew Interviews that Shopping is not just about joyriding and ram-raiding. Right, you think, let's hear what it really is all about. But, no, that's it. Anderson doesn't elaborate, and nor does anyone else. If you're looking for insight, then you're not going to find it in these wafer-thin extras.
What we get is a series of bland sound bites from Anderson, Jude Law and Sadie Frost, interspersed with clips from the movie. Come on, guys, we've just watched the movie. We don't need to see it again in bite-size pieces.
The Unedited B-Roll is six minutes of standard behind-the-scenes footage. We see Anderson at work, making last minute script changes, but it doesn't amount to much. A one-on-one with the first-time director would have been much more interesting.
