Eye For Film >> Movies >> Sixth Happiness (1997) DVD Review
Whereas with every other movie you see you want to know everything about everything that went into it from start to finish - or at least I do - Sixth Happiness doesn't exactly wow you with a disc stuffed full of extras. Instead what you get is an interview and a commentary, which, in this case, is enough.
During the interview Firdaus Kanga and director Waris Hussein, tell us how they came together and made it possible to convert Firdaus's book, Trying To Grow, into a movie. It touches on many personal elements of Kanga's life, which are not covered in the film.
His audio commentary is equally fascinating. Kanga's many qualities include a sense of humour and an inquisitive mind. Also, he does not avoid difficult questions, or use charm as a defensive weapon.
If honesty is a gift, he has been blessed.
