Read Gator MacReady's film review of Snow White And The Seven DwarfsWhen you consider that this film is now 64 years old, the quality of the image is breathtaking. You really could believe that it was drawn only yesterday. Colours are bright, vibrant and eye-catching and will no doubt satisfy.
The 5.1 remix is not your typical remix. The surrounds are not taken advantage of and are only active during scenes of singing, or music. The original Mono sound (which is included) seems to be respected too much for drastic tampering and new Foley effects to be necessary. Although well above average, the sound still fails to impress.
The extras on this the double disc Collector's Edition DVD are so extensive and so massive that even listing them eats up valuable webspace. Commenting on each and every one of them would take Gator forever and Disney has even included a map (as they have done with the Fantasia box set and The Emperors New Groove: Ultimate Edition) to navigate the features, which are spread over 2 separate discs. Disney has seriously set new standards for DVD features with this release and has proven to us and rival studios that the DVD format can go way beyond simple barebone releases that many studios (Paramount, Universal, Artisan) seem to be in love with.
Buy this movie if you are a fan, or if the sexy DVD interests you. And how could it not? It's everything you could possibly want on a Snow White DVD.
