Read Anton Bitel's film review of Star Wars: The Clone Wars - The Complete Season OneThis four-disc set contains all 22 episodes of Season One, including seven director's cuts (Rising Malevolence, Shadow Of Malevolence, Rookies, Lair of Grievous, Storm Over Ryloth, Innocents Of Ryloth, Liberty of Ryloth, Hostage Crisis). Every single episode comes with its own featurette.
Supervising director Dave Filoni, principal writer Henry Gilroy, character designer Kilian Plunkett, and sound designers David Acord and Matt Wood offer their insights into the creative process, working with Lucas (designated 'my Master' by Filoni), recycling sets and props ('assets'), maintaining canon continuity, and borrowing from the Expanded Universe. They also point out jokey cameos of the Staff of Ra and the Ark of the Covenant (from Raiders Of The Lost Ark) in key scenes.
These featurettes are informative, witty and, averaging around seven minutes each, are never long enough to outstay their welcome.
