The Baker

Brother duo Damian Lewis, who plays Milo, and Gareth, the writer/director, go behind the scenes and onto the set to give small snippets on the making of The Baker. The producer also throws in his tongue-in-cheek take on the budget of the film, which was, apparently, incredibly low. We learn about the ingredients used to blow up the sheep, which went back to basics - pulling the classic tins of baked beans, pasta and tomato ketchup from the cupboard. Who needs CGI?

Gareth Lewis has the most input as writer/director discussing how lack of cash encouraged more creativity and resourcefulness in solving problems on set etc and how grateful he is to his Producing Company for stumping out the cash needed on what was a gamble on a rookie director.

There’s not a great deal in the extras package, but then do you need it? The Baker is a small comedy that speaks for itself. It doesn’t lend itself to hours of needless extras, so in the end the DVD fits the feature fine.
