The Benny Hill Annual 1976

Read George Williamson's film review of The Benny Hill Annual 1976Three uncut episodes of classic Benny Hill; no more, no less.
The picture quality is passable, with minor tape glitches from the original production clearly visible, but a lot of the footage is fairly rough anyway and there's obvious discrepancy between the high-resolution studio shot material and the extremely grainy location footage, but given the production date it's hardly surprising. The sound quality is similarly afflicted; the transfer is fine, but it would have benefited from a clean up, as there's quite a lot of noise in certain sections.
The complete lack of extras is a shame, but then again after nearly three hours of Benny Hill action you'll probably have reached some kind of Seventies saturation point. However, it would have been nice to have had some interviews with any surviving members of the cast, or biographical notes of some kind included on the disc.
This could be a worse package, but the complete lack of any extras means that it has nothing to recommend it outside the main feature, which is watchable.
