Eye For Film >> Movies >> The Brave (1997) DVD Review
This offers very little as a DVD, with no extra features or a directorial commentary, which it could have done with. The print is clear and colours good, with little evidence of graining. The stereo sound quality has a bell-like clarity.
It seems amiss of the production company not to give us the benefit of Johnny Depp's words of wisdom. What was it about the story that appealed to him? Why choose Gregory McDonald's novel for his first outing as writer/director? It's not as if this is an old movie, before docu-features and audio commentaries existed.
There is a feeling that no-one in marketing thought The Brave would catch fire. In which case, why throw money at the DVD? Water, yes; imagination and support, no.
Sad, really.
