The Company of Wolves

Unlike the imaginative take on an old fairy tale that is the film itself, the extras are an uninspiring bunch.

A small Stills Gallery comprises low resolution shots from the film and the production process, the only few of any interest depicting the animatronic creatures used in various stages of construction.

The usual trailer, which is clearly not a theatrical trailer, but a synopsis of the entire film, made in an attempt to bulk up the DVD, is also included, though frankly if you've paid for the DVD, you might as well watch the main feature instead.

The only extra of any significance is also sadly more chore than joy; a commentary with Neil Jordan reveals little of any interest behind the making of the film, or his take on its meaning. Instead, he manages to say nothing for the duration of the film without actually shutting up. At one point, he informs us that he made the teddy bear in one dream sequence "enormous", when the giant bear is staring us in the face.

The film is in a pleasant enough 16:9 ratio and the claustrophobic (no doubt deliberate) feel of the forest is a result of Shepperton Studios, rather than a poor picture transfer.
