The End - Confessions Of A Cockney Gangster

Read Jeff Robson's film review of The End - Confessions Of A Cockney GangsterPicture and sound quality are good and the extras are reasonably entertaining. A Video Diary follows the sisters as they do the rounds of the various festivals; it’s good on the occasionally mundane aspects of the circuit (endless interviews, putting up your own flyers) and there’s a scene at the Raindance Festival in London where some of the interviewees give their verdict and Les is obviously bursting with pride for what his ‘girls’ have done.
The commentary, principally by Nicola Collins and Noah Rosenstein, the film’s editor, is reasonably illuminating on some of the background to the interviews and the editing techniques. And they make quite a good chatty double-act (down-to-earth Cockney gal and LA film geek respectively). Rosenstein has some good one-liners about the film’s subject matter too – at one point, after the interviewees have taken it in turns to emphasise that they “ain’t scared of no man”, he muses: “There’s really quite a lot of people I’m scared of”.
Trailers for the film itself and a few other London-based crime thrillers (of which I think the interviewees would be fairly dismissive) round off the package
