Read Jonathan Melton's film review of The Ghoul

Considering it’s age and it’s former status as a lost film, The Ghoul looks great, with a really crisp picture and strong blacks. The mono track is functional without doing anything spectacular, which is all you can ask of a seventy year old film.

Horror experts Newman and Jones deliver a very informative commentary, covering everything from the frustrations of watching the Czech print - which for years was the only one available – to the possibility that one of the screenwriters doesn’t even exist. The pair clearly know and love the genre, and enjoy talking about it.

The stills gallery is a stills gallery (does anyone actually look at them). For some reason, there are no subtitles on the disc, which is fairly unforgivable for a new DVD.

Professor Morlant's dying wish is to be buried with an Egyptian jewel, which gives the bearer eternal life. Great idea, genius.
