The picture and sound quality on this DVD are both excellent and there is a pretty decent batch of extras, too.

Featuring not one, but two commentary tracks, the first - by the director, Miguel Arteta, and writer, Mike White - sees them comment scene by scene, about the actors, the characters and the music used. This was interesting in parts and improved towards the end. One thing emphasised is that the film was acted as written, with little or no improvisation (just one line towards the end by Tim Blake-Nelson). I found this extra a little difficult to obtain, it kept taking me to the main feature minus commentary, but I eventually persuaded it to behave.

The second commentary track is a scene-specific one by Jennifer Aniston. Unfortunately, this was not overly informative and she was a little bit gushy about working with such wonderful actors (I'd love, one day, for someone to say 'so-and-so was SHIT to work with, no sense of humour and they farted all the time'.). Still, she comes across as thoughtful and serious, and occasionally lets rip with a deliciously loud chortle as she remembers working on certain scenes.

Also included is an alternate ending montage - essentially the same ending, put together in a different way. The final version used works best.

The gag reel includes all the usual false starts/bloopers/corpsing, nothing out of the ordinary. The deleted scenes, however, have quality and are properly voiced-over. The director talks about how he wished he could use them all, although some were underlining points already made by other scenes, therefore surplus to requirement.

All in all this Good Girl gets pretty good treatment.
