Read Gator MacReady's film review of The Good Son

Filmed in standard 1.85:1 widescreen, the anamorphic picture is not good-looking. The whole film is crippled by a "damp wallpaper" look, that is rather disturbing and not easy on the eye. Other than this, John Lindley's photography and the bleak colour pallet are rendered accurately. Also, the fleshtones and blacks are realistic enough.

The Dolby 2.0 soundtrack is adequate, but the film's sound design is strictly stereo fare. The only moments of flourish are when Bernstein's score bursts onto the screen during scenes of excitement. But if an elaborate soundtrack isn't necessary, then we can't complain.

A single theatrical trailer is the only extra.

Note: this DVD does not have the same edits to the car crash scene that the VHS tape did.
