The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug

Read Max Crawford's film review of The Hobbit: The Desolation Of SmaugLike the average Hobbit, the extras on this disc are a small offering, comprising a seven-minute featurette New Zealand: Home Of Middle-Earth, Part Two (part one was included on the last instalment) and two trailers.
The featurette is an upbeat blast through several of the settings for the film, complete with the cast and crew waxing lyrical about the undeniably beautiful New Zealand landscapes. "You could use that as an advert for New Zealand if you want...succinct, snappy, all positive," says Martin Freeman. That about sums it up, but if you're looking for information about how the film was shot, then you've come to the wrong place. It's a shame that a little more of the Blu-ray content - which features a raft of extras including production videos and a Peter Jackson featurette - didn't make it out of Mirkwood.
