The first of two commentary tracks features writer-director-editor Ti West and actress Jocelin Donahue sharing anecdotes from the set, revealing original plans and subsequent rewrites and demonstrating relaxed and comfortable banter about their shared experiences on the movie.

The second commentary track is a slightly livelier affair with writer-director-editor Ti West, producers Larry Fessenden and Peter Phok and sound designer Graham Reznick. At times this is quite hard to follow as there are so many people involved and it’s hard to keep track of who is saying what – but it’s all fascinating, light-hearted and informative stuff. It also provides wonderful insight into the workings of indie production house, Glass Eye Pictures, and how they went about putting together one of the creepiest, atmospheric and low-key horror films of the last decade.

In The House Of The Devil is a compilation of behind-the-scenes footage, revealing how various key scenes were planned out and filmed. This section might have benefitted from a cohesive strand to tie it altogether, such as a narrator. However, the commentary tracks more than make up for this lack of direct engagement.

Deleted scenes and a trailer are also included.
