The IT Crowd

There are 10 deleted scenes that are amusing or dry in turn, but viewing them out of the context of their episodes doesn’t help. They’re followed by a blooper reel which is more fun, but won’t stand up to repeat viewing.

There are two audio commentaries, one with just writer-director Graham Lineham and one with him and the cast. The first is amiable enough with a lot of creative explanations. The second, more riotous one confirms my long held suspicion that when casts do commentaries, especially for comedies, they all get royally lagered up and have a blast.

The Behind the Scenes featurette is a laugh, presented by Adam Buxton as Ken Korda, an idiotic filmmaker. In an outrageous wig he interviews/insults the main players and runs away with the piece.

Finally there’s Hello Friend, a FilmFour short by Lineham, starring Martin Savage, with the briefest of cameos from David Walliams and Richard Ayoade. Martin's happy family man installs the latest Praemus attachment to his computer to help streamline all his home pc needs. When things don’t go according to plan contacting Praemus’ customer relations department takes Savage into a Gilliamesque nightmare. It’s a smart, diverting short and another showcase for Lineham.
