Read James Gracey's film review of The Nightmare On Elm Street CollectionMaybe in an attempt to make up for the brevity of so many of the extra features included throughout this boxset, Warner Brothers have provided a bonus disc containing a brand new documentary on the Elm Street series, two episodes of the Freddy’s Nightmares TV series (my only gripe, and it’s but a minor one, is that they aren’t canon-orientated episodes) and a series of interviews with various horror luminaries such as Craven, Clive Barker and Sean Cunningham.
Fear Himself: The Life & Crimes of Freddy Krueger is a very recently produced 30 minute retrospective on the Elm Street series. Cast and crew from the entire franchise wade in on discussions concerning the series, the character of Freddy Krueger, Craven’s influences and subsequent influence on younger generations of filmmakers, the origins of the first film, and what sets the series apart from other horror franchises and how it has continued to appeal to audiences throughout the years.
