Eye For Film >> Movies >> The Piano (1993) Blu-Ray Review
Jane Campion's classic film stands up impressively after 25 years, still feeling fresh and modern, and this 25th anniversary blu-ray release is well deserved. It includes audio commentary by the director in conversation with producer Jan Chapman, who say that they remember the film as if it were made just a few months ago, and discuss the shoot in such detail that it's easy to believe that.
A behind the scenes feature adds further information and insight into the development process including casting and location scouting, as well a the making of the film itself, with contributions from Holly Hunter, Harvey Keitel and Sam Neill.
There's also a second feature, which examines how the film looks today. Despite some overlap between these features and the commentary in terms of subject matter, there's not much repetition and there's a great deal of detail provided about every aspect of the film, making this an excellent addition to any fan's collection.
