Read Neil Mitchell's film review of The Return Of The Living DeadA veritable smorgasbord of extra features – almost five hours worth. A two-hour documentary packed with interviews and behind the scenes footage being the highlight. Members of the cast and crew look back on the making of the film, their on set memories and the reception the film got when it was released.
Two half hour features look at parts II and III, again featuring interviews with cast and crew members. Good natured, largely celebratory in nature, though some tensions between cast and crew members are discussed, there's a definite sense that those involved in the movies look on them with genuine fondness. The film's much loved soundtrack is explored, as are the filming locations and FX in separate featurettes. John Russo is interviewed about his The Return Of The Living Dead novel and the original plans for the movie and Dan O'Bannon features in a poignant half hour interview recorded shortly before his death. If you love the movie these extra features are a must watch – in depth, self deprecating and nostalgic.
A real treat.
