Eye For Film >> Movies >> The Tripper (2006) DVD Review
Due to the film's relatively low budget, the picture quality is far from perfect. It's never unclear, but there is graining throughout. There are no flaws with the sound, but the surround sound mix is disappointing. In a horror film, it would be the easiest thing in the world to have a sound from a rear speaker making you jump at an unexpected moment, but there was nothing to really get the heart pumping.
Usually, cast interviews are a dreary affair, but they're enjoyable enough here. The film's great strength is that it's a bunch of friends running around in the woods, being silly, making a film together and getting covered in lots of fake blood. That level of real-life enjoyment shines through within the film itself, and this is carried over to the interviews. There aren't, of course, any earth-shattering revelations, or deep insights into the world of film-making, but it's not that sort of film.
A reasonable enough DVD package for a reasonable enough film.
