Eye For Film >> Movies >> The Vikings (1958) Blu-Ray Review
Richard Fleischer's epic tale of broken brotherhood, love and revenge is beauutiffuly presented on this Blu-ray and accompanied by an illustrated collector's booklet that looks every bit as good. There, original photographs from the shoot are accompanies by extracts from the director's memoirs. Also in this package is an additional, recorded memoir from the shoot, illustrated with photographs that very effectively capture the atmosphere on set and packed with fascinating anecdotes. There's a discursive piece by Sheldon Hall which fills in a lot of interesting background, and there's the original theatrical trailer, made using the seasoned technique of taking all the best fighty bits and doing its best to pretend that that's most of what the film is about.
