Without a commentary, there are things you want to know about the making of The Walk.

How were the Twin Towers resurrected so many years after 9/11?

How did Joseph Gordon-Levitt learn to wirewalk?

How was it possible to retain the tension of Philippe Petit's extraordinary achievement when you know the outcome from the start?

You can answer some of these questions by referring to the techno magicians without understanding a thing about how they do what they do. It is too easy to dismiss their very special effects with a bland response - Oh! That's CGI!

The creative crew box clever by providing input from Petit, who coached Joseph Gordon-Levitt to walk the wire, as well as fellow actors pitching in with personal reminiscences.

The Deleted Scenes are not worth bothering with. The rest is well presented and subtly understated. You glimpse the green screen and Gordon-Levitt's safety wire and a quick flash of the view from the roof, but that's all. They don't give away all their secrets.

Everyone is having a great time. There are no faint hearts here. The walk is the work and the work matters. It shows.
